This was an exciting month for me because it was my birthday! I had an amazing time, it was great to spend time with friends and family.
People were very kind and gave me lots of great gifts, some of which were sewing-related!
For quite some time I have been using random heavy items in my house as pattern weights, so I was very excited to receive some pattern weights! What made this even more exciting was that they were reel pattern weights from Foxglove and Field!
I was really keen to try some patterns by Named Clothing and was a particularly fond of the Saraste Top in their book, Breaking the Pattern. So I was quite excited to receive this on my birthday too!
September Makes
I feel like September was a fairly productive month for me, which was partially to do with the fact that I wanted a new dress to wear on my birthday.
I made 2 dresses this month, the first being another Christine Haynes Emery Dress. I was initially planning to wear this on my birthday, but decided to make a different dress because I wasn’t a fan of the fit.
I made a few alterations to this pattern, including adjusting the armholes because this pattern is intended to have sleeves. I also made a pleated skirt instead of a gathered skirt.
I think in future versions I will need to shorten the bodice though.
The second dress I made was another Moneta Dress made from an embroidered mesh. I used the same method of making the dress as when I made my New Years Eve dress. I was really happy with how this one turned out and ended up wearing it on my birthday!
In September I made another pair of Carolyn pyjama pants. This pattern is quickly becoming a favourite of mine! I made this pair from a shark print flannelette that I bought from Spotlight.
I also made my first Tilly and the Buttons project this month – a Marigold jumpsuit. I chose to straighten the neckline though.
I wasn’t too sure about the fit of this garment, I think in future I might go down a size in the bodice and do a full bust adjustment if necessary.
I am keen to make another jumpsuit out of this pattern, but I would probably get a lot more wear out of the trousers.

This month I also made a top for my sister. I found a Gorman-style lemon print linen at Spotlight which I thought she would love, so I made her the Drop Sleeve Top from The Avid Seamstress.
This was the first time I have used this pattern and I thought it was great! The fit was great, the instructions were very easy to follow, and best of all, it is a free pattern!
September was a great month for me, and I am very happy with what I managed to get done this month!
Thanks for reading!
