In April, I decided that this year I was going to participate in Me Made May, so I made the following pledge:
I, Bridgette, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May 2019. I endeavour to 1. Stick together 1 PDF pattern a week, 2. Wear at least 3 handmade garments a week, and 3. Make 1 workwear item a week during May 2019.
May ended up being a fairly busy month for me so I was successful in some aspects of my pledge, and not so successful in others.
The first part of my pledge, stick together 1 PDF pattern per week, was not as successful as I hoped. In May I only stuck together the Seamwork Dani Pinafore pattern and the Tilly and the Buttons Marigold Jumpsuit pattern. I did however draft a lunch box pattern. So three out of four isn’t so bad.
The second part, wear at least 3 handmade garments a week, was mostly successful. I didn’t wear as many garments as I wanted to, however it did mean that I was more aware of how often I wear my me-mades.
Throughout May, I got a lot of wear out of my leopard print Ogden cami, velvet plantain t-shirt, unicorn print Carolyn pajamas, my new cupcake print Carolyn pajamas, cactus print plantain t-shirt and my watermelon canvas bag.
The third part of my pledge, make 1 workwear item per week, was not very successful as I only managed to make 1 new workwear item in May which was an ogden cami.
Whilst I didn’t reach all of my goals for Me Made May this year, I enjoyed being involved. I think that next year I will aim to set more reasonable goals that take into account what else I have on in May.
Did you participate in Me Made May this year? I would love to hear how you went.
Thanks for reading!
