I’m very excited to have finally given the Closet Case Jenny Overalls and Trousers a try and I am quite proud of the result. I chose to make the cropped version in a dinosaur print drill fabric from Spotlight.

Given the restrictions on leaving the house at the moment and uncertainty with postage, I chose to use fastenings I already had, so I used 2.5cm pink buttons and a sky blue zip. I also didn’t have thread that matched either of the colours in the fabric so I used fuchsia contrasting thread for the topstitching.
I wanted the option to wear these as both trousers and overalls, so instead of stitching the bib and straps into the waistband, I used metal press studs which worked quite well.

Whilst I like the trousers version, I think I will primarily wear these as overalls because the waist is a bit too big. I graded in at the waist one size prior to cutting these out but I think in future versions I will need to grade it in further.

I will also take in the legs as these were a bit too wide for my liking and I found that the inseam bunched a bit – I had to shorten the length quite a bit so it may be a result of me not shortening them correctly.
I also found that the bib was a bit too big so I would like to reduce the bib and bib pocket pieces a few sizes.
Overall I quite liked this pattern and found the instructions quite easy to follow. There were a few things I did differently to the instructions like the waistband because I was chose to make the detachable bib. I also did a centred zip instead of a lapped zip because I started inserting the zip before I read the instructions for zipper insertion. Oops!
I would definitely like to make this pattern again, especially once I have made some changes to the pattern so that it fits better.
This is the second Closet Case pattern that I have tried and loved. I find their patterns are really easy to follow and suit a range of different body types. I also like that they have variations and hacks available on their website for free and plenty of supporting resources.
Thanks for reading!
